Listings

We create our Listings from publicly available information.

Criteria for posting a listing on our website

For us to consider creating a listing for a particular product, the product must in our opinion at least meet these criteria:

  • The product is for business use; this will exclude games, personal productivity apps, social media, and most communication apps.
  • The product must be complete and actively marketed; not in beta, and we can't review bespoke or highly-configurable software before it's been built.
  • The product must be accessible via a web browser. The product may include mobile apps or installable components, but must primarily be browser-based.
  • The product must be suitable for UK businesses. In most cases we'll assume software is suitable for UK businesses, unless it becomes clear that it is not—because, for example, it doesn't handle UK currency or UK tax law.
  • An appropriate level of support must be available for the product during UK office hours. What we consider "appropriate" will depend on the functionality and complexity of the product.
Excluded industries

We won't include products designed for or targeted towards:

  • adult industries
  • the defence industry
  • the gambling industry
  • the tobacco industry

Adding your product

If we believe your product meets our inclusion criteria, we may create a Listing when:

  • A product is suggested by a software buyer, using a contact form on the site
  • We come across your product in the course of our research
  • You claim a free profile

We create our Listings from publicly available information.

Free product listings are placed in a queue and are researched in order. Paid product listings are prioritised over free listings.

Amending your product's listing

We regularly review and update paid listings as described in the 'Services' section below.

We don't regularly review free listings, unless we're notified of an inaccuracy.

If you believe that one of our listings is inaccurate, please do contact us to let us know. We'll investigate all such claims, but we will not alter a listing in a way that we feel may make it misleading to software buyers.

Removing your listing

We may remove your product's listing at any time if we believe—at our absolute discretion—that it no longer meets our criteria.

If you would like us to remove your product's listing, please do contact us letting us know why you object to the listing. We'll investigate all such requests to try to resolve your objections. We are not obliged to remove your product's listing.

Copyright and trademark considerations

We respect the intellectual property rights of others.

We use logos and trademarks to identify you and your products. This is not illegal. We are not "passing off" our products or services as being provided by you. We do not claim any affiliation or endorsement.

We may use copyrighted materials in our product listings. We do this for the purposes of "criticism and review" only. This is not illegal.

If you feel that your rights under applicable copyright laws are being infringed, please do contact us.

Services

Free product listing

We add free product listings in the circumstances described above in section 'Adding your product'.

Free product listings include:

  • The product's logo or icon—for identification purposes only
  • The name of the product, as it appears on the product's website
  • A slogan (up to 50 characters) taken from the product's website
  • A short description (up to 50 words) taken from the product's website
  • A link the the product's home page

Free product listings are included in one category only. Because free product listings are not linked to our database of common software capabilities and features, they will not be included in searches where the user has chosen to filter by software capabilities or features.

Basic product listing

A basic product listing is a paid service. When we compile a basic product listing, we perform an 'Expert product assessment' as described below.

Basic product listings include:

  • The product's logo or icon—for identification purposes only
  • The name of the product (as it appears on the product's website)
  • A slogan (up to 50 characters) taken from the product's website
  • A short description (up to 50 words) taken from the product's website
  • A link the the product's home page
  • Three screenshots taken from your website
  • Common software capabilities and features highlighted as "Confirmed" where appropriate.
  • A summary of the product's pricing model
  • Links to the features, integrations, and pricing pages on the product's website—as appropriate

Basic product listings are included in all appropriate categories. We'll decide which categories are appropriate.

Basic product listings will be included in searches where the user has chosen to filter by software capabilities or features.

Managed product listing

A managed product listing is a paid service. When we compile a managed product listing, if possible, we perform an 'Expert product trial' as described below. If you do not make a free trial available to us, we cannot complete an 'Expert product trial'—we'll perform an 'Expert product assessment' instead.

Managed product listings include:

  • The product's logo or icon—for identification purposes only
  • The name of the product (as it appears on the product's website)
  • A slogan (up to 50 characters) taken from the product's website
  • A short description (up to 50 words) taken from the product's website
  • A link the the product's home page
  • Nine screenshots taken from your website or supplied by you
  • An unbiased review of the product (100 to 200 words)
  • Common software capabilities and features highlighted as "Verified" where appropriate.
  • A summary of the product's pricing model
  • Links to the features, integrations, and pricing pages on the product's website—as appropriate

Managed product listings will be included in searches where the user has chosen to filter by software capabilities or features.

Expert product assessment

An 'Expert product assessment' is a paid service.

We'll examine your website and publicly available marketing information and link your product listing to our database of common software capabilities and features.

Expert product trial

An 'Expert product trial' is a paid service.

We'll trial your system, verify your product's features and write an unbiased product review. You will have the opportunity to read our review before it goes live on the website. You may suggest changes if you feel our review is inaccurate, but we will not alter a listing in a way that we feel may make it misleading to software buyers.
